A 31-year-old woman from Sliema was critically injured this morning in a crash at the exit of the south-bound tunnel on the Regional Road.

Informed sources said the woman was a passenger in a  Toyota Aygo which crashed into a wall and a tree shortly after coming out of the tunnel, heading towards Msida.

The driver, a 24-year-old man from Ta' Xbiex, was less seriously hurt.  

The incident happened at about 6.30 a.m.
