A man who was allegedly caught on the roof of a house after a burglary was arraigned in court this afternoon and remanded in custody.
Roderick Debono 31 of Paola, pleaded not guilty to aggravated theft of more than €2,300 worth of items from the residence of an elderly couple. He also denied breaching bail conditions and relapsing.
Drs Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri were defence counsel.
In connection with the same case, the police a few days ago arraigned another man, George Xuereb, who claimed this was a case of mistaken identity.
Pleading not guilty, Mr Xuereb, of Safi, said he had nothing to do with the other person arrested on the roof..
Legal aid lawyer Mark Busuttil denied his client was caught red-handed and said Mr Xuereb had indicated two people whom he could identify if they were arraigned by the police.
