A man who operates a water bowser company was yesterday fined €2,000 and given a six-month jail term suspended for two years after he admitted to illegally possessing fireworks chemicals.

Jason Grima, 41, from St Paul’s Bay, was found with the explosives at his house on Thursday at around 4 p.m. and had enough chemicals to make a petard. Police Inspector Joseph Busuttil told Magistrate Anthony Vella that although the amount was small it was still dangerous and illegal.

Mr Grima also pleaded guilty to transporting the chemicals in his car and operating without a licence.
