BEATTIE: Hearts have confirmed the signing of striker Craig Beattie until the end of the season. The 28-year-old former Celtic and West Brom forward was a free agent following his release by Swansea last month. Beattie could make his debut in today’s Premier League clash with Dundee United at Tynecastle.

BELLAMY: Liverpool forward Craig Bellamy has recovered from the back problem which kept him out last weekend and is set to return to face his hometown club Cardiff in tomorrow’s League Cup final. The Wales international had an injection to ease a spasm and has trained this week.

SAMBA: Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba yesterday completed his move to Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala, the English Premier League club announced. Blackburn refused to disclose the fee, but reports in England suggested the deal was worth £12m on a four-year deal.

MESSI LINK: Paraguayan side Olimpia had Lionel Messi’s cousin to thank for their Copa Libertadores Group Two victory over Argentina’s Lanus yesterday. The hosts had taken the lead in Asuncion but were pegged back in the 71st minute by defender Luciano Araujo’s equaliser. But Argentinian forward Maxi Biancucchi, the 27-year-old cousin of the Barcelona star, popped up late on to condemn his fellow countrymen to defeat.

GREEN: West Ham keeper Robert Green has had his red card against Blackpool on Tuesday rescinded. Green was dismissed for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity when he brought down Blackpool striker Roman Bednar outside the area but Hammers manager Sam Allardyce appealed, claiming they had defenders covering.

DAVIS: Bristol City have signed Bolton midfielder Sean Davis on a one-month loan deal. The former Fulham man has not featured for Bolton since August 2009 and has been restricted to only four appearances for the Trotters. And now the 32-year-old former Fulham man has moved to Ashton Gate to try to help the Robins, currently in 20th, move up the Championship table.
