First aid during carnival

The Emergency Response and Rescue Corps this year catered to 22 first aid cases during carnival activities in Gozo, including at Xewkija and Nadur.

The corps said that 19 cases were on Saturday evening alone.

They ranged from simple injuries, which required minor first aid, to more serious injuries like fractures, head and spinal injuries, some of which required prompt transportation to hospital.

Most cases were the result of excess alcohol consumption.

The corps thanked the Nadur and Xewkija councils for entrusting it with the safety of those at carnival activities, and the police who contributed to the safety of corps volunteers carrying out first aid.
