Magnificent chapels
A big concrete block has been put up smack in front of St Sylvester’s chapel in Mosta.
It looks like a big billboard is being planned to be mounted on it, thus hiding the chapel.
Our chapels need protection from the Malta Environment and Planning Authority, local councils and the central government and should be our pride. Such a billboard will be a disgrace.
We have been asking the authorities to remove the electrical and telephone wires that are destroying the beauty of these chapels and now this! Where are we heading? Towards the destruction of our heritage?
As a member of hbieb@kappellimaltin.com I strongly object to any billboards in front of this or any other chapel and urge whoever is in charge to stop this massacre and show some responsibility.

I have been told the concrete block has been removed so no bill board will be erected to hide this beautiful chapel. Thanks to whoever interfered to make this happen.

I can't decide what's worse - that someone thinks it's a good idea to stick a billboard in front of a chapel, or that others don't mind this happening. What a shame !
Now I'd like to hear the maltese shout up about how proud they are of their country and heritage, not when some foreigner complains about our roads/driving/hunting/overdevelopment.

What about the large concrete block which has been deposited at Msida just before the very busy traffic lights? A distracted driver will soon make my point, unless immediately removed.

As a protest, the people of Mosta should not vote for the council members of which the billboard represents,......good idea,...but will they do it,I wonder.

Hemm ghaliex iddahhal il-politika partiggjana nazzjonalista fuq minhabba qiegh tal-konkos ta' billboard li minnhom il-MEPA tippermetti mijiet madwar il-pajjiz kollu?
Possibli ma ghandikx xi haga ahjar fuq xiex tikkumenta. Nghidu ahna li l-Airmalta giet mitluba ccedi t-titjiriet lejn Heathrow, Gatwick u Frankfurt, jew li hemm kaz iehor ta' korruzzjoni ta' 500,000 fi Transport Malta. X'tahseb?

@Victor Rodenas.
Inti ktibt "As a protest, the people of Mosta should not vote for the council members of which the billboard represents,......good idea,...but will they do it,I wonder."
Issa l-billboard imsemmija hemm referenza ghaliha wara li tfaccat bazi tal-konkos "a big concrete block" fl-istess rapport li kkumentajt dwaru inti. Irrelevanti jekk intix mill-Mosta jew le. Id-diskussjoni ghandha tiffoka dwar il-MEPA ghaliex hija tirregola fejn jitqieghdu l-bazijiet tal-billboards.

I wish one day we can make these stupid, offensive (both to the environment and the readers' intelligence), and quite dangerous billboards made illegal.
As I've said before, a concrete block, often weighing more than a tonne, smack in the middle of corner, or by the roadside, can easily turn a small accident into a fatality.
Moreover, they are often toppled by strong winds, while the material used for the message gets torn and ends up being an eyesore. The LED ones are just as bad, creating visual distractions, particularly when switching (or rather, flashing) from one ad to another.
