Obituary

AVETA. On February 17, FRANCIS GEORGE, aged 98, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Mary Rose, his daughter Clementine, other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass will be said today at 2 p.m. at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel, followed by interment. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CAMILLERI. On February 14, at Mater Dei Hospital, ALFRED, aged 70, of Lija, residing in Balzan, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his only daughter Stephanie and her husband Dr Alex Gatt, his beloved partner Therese, his dearest grandchildren Rebecca, Gabriela, Daryl, his brothers Charles, Joe and Noel, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for Lija parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

FARRUGIA. On February 19, at Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital, VINCENZO of Sliema, aged 82, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brother France, husband of Tessie, his nephew Andrew, husband of Liz, his niece Stephanie, and their child-ren Ursula, Zoe, Abigail and Zachary, relatives, friends and members of the MUSEUM Society. The funeral leaves Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for Gżira parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

FSADNI. On February 19, TERESA (Tessie), passed away peacefully at the venerable age of 91, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her brother Victor and his wife Maggie, her sisters Maudy, widow of Joe Attard, Iris, widow Edwin Darmanin, Evelyn (Vivi), widow of Michael Oliver, Anthida, widow of Mario Serracino Inglott, Sophie, widow of her brother Joe Fsadni, and Marisa, Denise and Ivan, children of her late brother Louis Fsadni, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 3 p.m. for St Gregory church, Żejtun, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m., followed by interment at St Gregory Cemetery. Dona­tions to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

PIZZUTO. On February 19, at Mater Dei Hospital, CATHERINE, aged 85, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her son Paul and his wife Maria, her grandchildren Karl and Luke, her daughters Josephine and her husband José, and Doris, her brothers Alfred and Joseph, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 7.30 a.m. for St Paul Shipwrecked parish church, Valletta, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8 a.m., followed by interment in the family vault at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Carnets de chasse

Hunters and trappers have to return their expired carnets de chasse booklets by February 29, the planning authority said.

The booklets for 2011/2012 have to be taken to any Maltapost branch during opening hours.

Misplaced booklets have to be reported to the planning authority during office hours. Once last year’s booklets are collected, the planning authority will distribute the ones for 2012/2013.

Talk on Baroque Valletta

Prof. Dennis De Lucca will deliver a talk called Baroque Valletta: A Seventeenth-Century Jesuit Course in Military Architecture, at the Collegium Melitense as part of the monthly series of cultural talks organised by Din l-Art Ħelwa.

The talk will be held at Judge M. Caruana Curran Hall, DLĦ, 133, Melita Street, Valletta, at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Attendance is free.

Power cuts

There will be power cuts in the following localities:

Between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. in Hurds Bank, Blajjiet, Batterija taż-Żonqor and Artil­lieri streets in Marsascala.

Between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. in Main and Vitale streets in Mġarr.
