Junior Double Trap shooter Nathan Lee Xuereb topped his category at the weekend Italian Championship, hosted by the Italian Shooting Federation (FITAV) at the Valle Aniene range, just outside Rome.

Xuereb, under the guidance of coach Jimmy Bugeja, had scores of 47, 43 and 44 for a total of 134 clays from 150 rounds.

His nearest competitor in the juniors’ event was home shooter Andrea Galesso who was clearly hampered by the unfavourable weather condi-tions and only managed 118 points.

In the Open Double Trap shoot, contested by 11 com-petitors, Xuereb was classified joint fifth with Giuseppe Cavaglia who also finished with 134 clays.

Renowned duo Alessandro Chianese and Daniele di Spigno topped the scoreboard with 140 hits each. Ferdinando Rossi was third, just one clay behind the joint leaders.
