The Law Students’ Society welcomed the recent changes to the University’s Law course and thanked the relevant authorities who helped bring them about. One of the reforms is a complete revision of the course’s entry requirements, which in recent years had become far too lax, the society said.
But the society added that in the ‘Law course reform report’ it had submitted in October 2010, it had proposed other measures aimed at providing the best possible holistic education. The report had also suggested major changes to the course structure.
The students said that while the changes due to take place in 2014 were a step in the right direction, more discussions were needed to further improve the course.
“Students should be assessed on their achievements, not on their failures,” a society spokesman said, adding that the University had to ensure that quality is not sacrificed at the expense of quantity.
“Students should not accomodate the shortcomings of the system, the lack of human resources and the current lack of seating capacity in lecture theatres at University.”
