MUSTAFA. On January 28, at St James Capua Hospital, Sliema, to Hana Ibrahim née Ahmed Ibrahim and Hassan Ibrahim, God’s precious gift of a son – HAMADY ZEIN, a most welcome brother to Mohmed. Thanks to the obstetrician and midwife Carmen Scerri as they were very close to me and helped me a lot. Special thanks to all the staff at the hospital.

SAMMUT. On January 23, at Mater Dei Hospital, to Doreen née Zammit and James, God’s precious gift of a son – MATTHEW. Deo gratias et Mariæ.

TUA. On February 2, at Mater Dei Hospital, to Katya née Azzopardi and Julien, God’s precious gift of a first-born daughter – EMILIA. Deo gratias et Mariæ. Thanks to all the midwives and staff at the hospital.

Obituary

BUGEJA. On February 18, at Karin Grech Hospital, JOSEPH of Birkirkara, aged 82, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his wife Doris and his daughter Mariella, his brother Victor and his wife Irene, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Karin Grech Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for St Joseph the Worker parish church, Birkirkara, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. The family regret that they are unable to receive visitors.

CARUANA – BEATRICE. On February 5, in Sydney, Australia, BICE, née Calleja Gera, aged 92, widow of Joe, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved children Louis, Gloria, Mike, Tony, Ray, Len, Maria

DESIRA. On February 13, in Perth, Australia, ARTHUR, aged 75. Deeply mourned by his beloved wife Therese, his sons Adam, Adrian and his wife Julie and their children, his sisters Terry, wife of Vince Tonna, Violet, wife of Louis Parnis, their respective families and other relatives and friends. A prayer is solicited.

HOWE. On February 18, MARY GRACE née Gauci of Rabat, residing in Ibraġ, passed peacefully away at home in her sleep. The funeral service shall be held at Ibraġ parish church tomorrow at 9 a.m.

MELI. On February 16, GIANNI, aged 85, passed away comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. Dearly missed by his children George, Carmen, Connie, Martin and Jesmond, together with their respective partners, his brothers and sisters and those of his late wife Marie, as well as all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. at Lourdes parish church, Paola. The family regret that they are unable to receive visitors. Donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, would be much appreciated instead of flowers. The family would like to thank the staff of Ward G3 at Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital and wards M.I.T.U and M1 of Mater Dei Hospital who cared for Gianni during his last weeks.

RISSO. On February 14, LOUIS, aged 88, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Maria, his children Louis, Robert, Judy and Claire and their respective spouses, Mary, Margaret, Joe Bugeja and Patrick Scicluna, his grandchildren Sandra, Karen, Nicholas, Mark, Anna Maria, Daniel, David and Aimee, his great-grandchildren Isabelle, Braden, Nathan and Dylan, his brother Joe and his in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 1.30 p.m. for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated.

VELLA. On February18, ANNA, aged 92, widow of Anthony, of Qrendi, residing in San Ġwann, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Chruch. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Ġuża and her husband Paul Micallef, Calcidon, widower of Mary Rose, Silvia, widow of John Sciberras, Bernadette and her husband Alfred Sciberras, Carmelo and his wife Mary, Maria and her husband Freddie Xuereb, Emanuel and his wife Carmen, Zaren and his wife Maria, Julian and his wife Connie and Anthony and his wife Anna, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brother John, widower of Theresa, Ġemma, widow of her brother Angelo Briffa, Elena, widow of her brother Kurċifisso, Carmen, widow of her brother-in-law Luigi, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves her home tomorrow at 1.30 p.m. for Lourdes parish church, San Ġwann, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery.
