A 300 kilogramme prinjulata made by Corradino prisoners and correctional officers may be on the way to entering the Guinness Book of records.

The prisoners and their guards embarked on their project in recent days for each prisoner to get a part of the cake while keeping a Maltese tradition alive even in prison. The prisoners who made the traditional Maltese carnival cake also decided to share it with Ursuline children's homes.

The prinjulata was officially weighed in the presence of a notary appointed by the Guiness Book of World Records.

The Department of Correctional Services thanked the 40 companies and individuals who provided the ingredients and equipment for the initiative to be a success.
