Foreign Minister Tonio Borg will tomorrow take part in the latest consultations of the "5+5" group that seeks to enhance cooperation between the north and south banks of the Mediterranean. The meeting will be held in Rome.

Dr Borg will meet with his counterparts from Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania.

The group, which was formed in 1990, meets regularly to address a variety of issues, ranging from defence and security to the environment, immigration, food security, illegal trafficking and terrorism.

The meeting is expected to confirm that the 5+5 Summit will take place later this year in Malta. The Prime Ministers of these countries will head their delegations at the summit.
