Calls are a scam

Microsoft Malta has alerted the public of an ongoing scam whereby individuals have been receiving phone calls from callers identifying themselves as representatives of the company.

Callers were informing individuals that their computer might be at risk before asking them for personal credit card details.

“This is an outright and harmful scam. Microsoft Malta advises the general public not to heed such phone calls,” it said in a statement.

The company said it never runs any form of diagnostics tests over the phone and never seeks to sell any of its products to individual customers over the phone.
