The Xuereb family, who had to adjust their lives after their 13-year-old son was run over by a car while riding his bicycle, was recently awarded the Qalb tad-Deheb during an evening held at the Cana Movement headquarters in Victoria.

Although the accident put great pressure on the Xewkija family, they remained united.

The award was presented by President George Abela, who said families experiencing problems should make a continuous effort to remain united and not be tempted to part ways when times get tough.

Gozo Bishop Mario Grech said good and proper family upbringing was crucial to characterformation.

Mgr Grech, Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono and other entities offered donations and gifts to the Xuereb family.

The Chorus Urbanus, under the direction of John Galea, took part.
