Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has promised nothing will be left to chance with regards to safety when it comes to attending the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone made it clear last week that unless there is a clear deterioration in the current situation in Bahrain then the sport would be making its return in April.

Tuesday’s one-year anniversary of the Day of Rage, when protesters took to the streets in a bid to oust the ruling government, passed relatively quietly in comparison to a year ago.

It now appears F1 will again be staged at the Sakhir circuit from April 20-22 after the race had to be cancelled last year.

Horner said: “As far as I’m aware we’re definitely going.

“We rely on the FIA and Bahrain is one of the races on the calendar.

“They are far better placed to know what the issues are, and we trust their judgment, as we do the promoter, and we’ll see how things develop.

“But as of today there’s a race committed to Bahrain, and we’ll be there.

“From a team point of view we’ll take all necessary precautions that are relevant for our workforce.”
