Weekly consumer advice

• Before engaging someone to carry out a service, we should first shop around and compare price quotes.

• The quality of the service and the reputation of the provider should always be taken into consideration.

• Gather as much information as possible on who will provide the service and on the actual service.

• The service should be carried out with reasonable care and skill.

• When the service is not carried out as agreed, we should complain with the trader and give them an opportunity to put things right.

• If no solution is reached with the seller, we may file a complaint with the Office for Consumer Affairs.
