Everyone should fight precarious employment which in Malta was growing at an alarming rate, the Forum Unions Maltin said in a statement.

It said that this work was usually hidden and workers were afraid to speak up because they would lose their job. Forum had information that many workers in different sectors were going through bad experiences including ETC employees including some loaned to councils.

The same could be said for carers and security officers who were being paid peanuts and whose dignity was being destroyed. Complaints were also received from teachers in a private school who were being paid slightly more than the minimum wage, in spite of having the necessary qualifications.

All the authorities had to do was to go to Marsa in the morning and see vans loading immigrants who would work in construction for the whole day for a few euros.

This was reality and the Malta Employers Association should see and insist that such practices stopped because workers did not deserve to be treated in this manner.
