The Saluting Battery in Valletta will be closed until April 30 to make way for ongoing renovation works.

Closing the battery will not affect the firing of the daily noon gun, according to Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna, which manages the place.

The project forms part of the opening of Malta’s first Military Heritage Park, which will link the Saluting Battery, Lascaris war rooms, St Peter and St Paul counterguard, the underground Nato communication centre and the wartime tri-services war rooms, located under the Upper Barrakka.

The restoration of the saluting battery is being partly funding by the European Fund for Development.
