A man who admitted to stealing €35,000 worth of cigarettes was jailed for two years today.

A court heard how Emanuel Farrugia, 47 of Marsa, stole the cigarettes in November 2007 during a hold-up at a warehouse belong to NM Arrigo Ltd.

He also admitted to illegal possession of a firearm, holding an NM Arrigo Ltd employee against his will and relapsing.

The court said it had noted the early admission of the accused and his cooperation with the police.
