Emirates and the Mauritius Ministry of Tourism recently signed an agreement to jointly promote the island destination across the airline’s global network.
Emirates and Mauritius will develop a series of joint activities to increase awareness of Mauritius in over 100 Emirates destinations.
Mauritius Tourism Minister Michael Sik Yuen said: “Mauritius is constantly improving its attractiveness and has a wide portfolio of offerings: golf, medical tourism, cruising, shopping facilities and inland tourism.”
Emirates’ regional vice president of commercial operations Majid Al Mualla agreed. “The island of Mauritius is a great product and constitutes an important destination in our network,” Mr Al Mualla said.
“We strongly believe in its potential and our regular increases in frequencies on this route demonstrate that our promotion strategy is the right one and is bringing concrete results,” he added.
Emirates now flies to 118 destinations in 70 countries.
The airline operates flights on a daily schedule from Malta to Dubai via Larnaca, Cyprus.
The Dubai-Mauritius route is serviced by 11 flights a week.
