GRIMA. On January 25, at Mater Dei Hospital, to Roberta née Farrugia and Claude, God’s precious gift of a son – MATTHEW. Special thanks to midwives Francesca Farrugia and Vincenza Deschriver, and to all the dedicated maternity staff at Obs 3 for all their care.

Obituary

AGIUS. On February 5, in Bath, England, MARIE née Spiteri Staines, widow of Emmanuel, aged 83, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughters Elaine Entenappt and Joanne Hobes, her grandchildren, her brothers Edgar, John, Tony, Vincent, David and Joe and their spouses, other relatives and friends. The funeral will be held in Bath on February 22. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

BORG. On February 11, Rev. Mro ALBERTO BORG, Augustinian, aged 92, former Maestro di Cappella of the Metropolitan Church, residing in Valleta, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss the Augustinian confreres, his nephews and nieces and their families, other relatives, students and friends. The funeral leaves Karin Grech Hospital, Pietà, tomorrow at 8 a.m. for St Augustine parish church, Valletta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Augustinian Missions will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CAUCHI. On February 9, after a long illness borne with Christian fortitude, ANJELICA, aged 57, went to meet the Risen Lord. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband Andre, daughters Alba and Ambra and her boyfriend Edward, her mother Glorya, her sister Luana and her husband Joe, her brother Miguel and his wife Diana, her nephew Zach and his girlfriend Raisa, her nieces Jessica, Dawn and Debbie, in-laws Angele, Pierre, Monique and Cecile, and other relatives and friends. Mass will be held at Ibraġ parish church tomorrow at 9 a.m. Any donations to the Hospice Movement would be much appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

FARRUGIA. On February 9, in Canada, ANTHONY, formerly of Marsa, aged 64, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Sadly missed by his brothers Charlie, Joe and his wife Joyce, John and his wife Jane, Frank, Manuel and his wife Suzanne (all of Canada), Maria, Violet, Domenic and his wife Angela, and Alfred and his wife Mary, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held in Canada tomorrow. A Mass for the repose of his soul will be said at the Holy Trinity parish church, Marsa, tomorrow at 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. May he rest in peace.

MUSCAT. On February 11, ANTHONY, known as Tommy, aged 90, from Mellieħa, passed peacefully away at Mater Dei Hospital, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his sad loss his daughter Stephanie Judith and her husband Albert Tedesco and his beloved grandchildren Cristina, Matteo and Riccardo, his brother Charlie and his wife Mary, his sister Tessie who resides in Canada, his brother John and his wife Marie who reside in California and their respective families, his in-laws and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Tuesday at 1.30 p.m. for the parish church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary (Maria Bambina), Mellieħa, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.15 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Ursuline Crèche in Sliema would be greatly appreciated. Lord grant him eternal rest.

SIMLER. On February 10, MARIA, widow of Louis, aged 87, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughters Stephanie and her husband Patrick Critien and Denise, her beloved grandchildren Marie Adrienne and Jean Louis, her brothers and sisters Michael, John and his wife Rose, Doris and her husband Louis Chircop, Edwin and his wife Lilian, her sister-in-law Antoinette, widow of her brother Carmelo Zarb, Lino, widower of her sister Nilda, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence tomorrow at 1.30 p.m. for St Paul Shipwrecked parish church, Valletta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. STAFRACE. On February 11, at Apap Institute, St Venera, RITA of Paola, widow of Edward, aged 88, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Chruch. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Charlo and his wife Antoinette, Miriam and her husband Vince Gilson, Raymond and his wife Marvic and Connie and her husband Jeffrey Calleja, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brother Sonny Grima and his wife Marie of Australia, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Apap Institute tomorrow at 7.30 a.m. for Christ the King parish church Paola, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at Sant’ Andrija Cemetery, Żebbuġ. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Mass for engaged couples

Archbishop Paul Cremona will celebrate Mass at St John Co-Cathedral, Valletta, today at 6.30 p.m. for engaged couples marrying this year. The celebration is being organised by the Cana Movement.
