Thomas Naudi, a 19-year-old Bachelor of Commerce student at the University of Malta recently won two Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) during a RYLA event held in Panchgani, near Mumbai, India, organised by Rotary District 3060.

He won a prize for an essay titled ‘What and how will I change in the next five years?’ and he was one of two members of his group to be nominated for an internship with an Indian company.

RYLA is a Rotary Foundation programme aimed at promoting cross-culture teamwork and leadership skills in young people to further world peace. Each year Rotary districts from all over the world select a number of young people to attend these international meetings.

Three youths from Rotary District 2110, comprising Sicily and Malta, were selected to attend – Dario Di Bartolo and Tommaso Giuga from Sicily, and Mr Naudi. More than half of Mr Naudi’s group hailed from India and the rest came from Brazil, South Africa, Germany, France and the US.

The next RYLA meeting for Italian Rotaract districts is to be held in Malta in March.
