Simply grotesque

The proposed €2 coin commemorating the 10 years of the euro currency about to be issued later on this year makes one wonder whether our ancestors (and us) are direct descendants of the hunchback of Notre Dame.

Our usual minting of Maltese coins is impeccable in design details but, this time, with respect to the engraver, it leaves much to be desired. The design has already been altered because the original hinted at the Nazi salute, so couldn’t more “human” faces be produced?

Our coins are much sought after by international collectors and the way this particular coin represents us “Maltese” is, to say the least, grotesque and repulsive.

They look like the modelling -clay caricatures from 'Spitting Image'!

I just looked at the image. Is this the real thing or is this a parody? I hope it's not the real thing!
