The Institute of Tourism Studies wishes to clarify that students have not missed any classes due to a lack of lecturers, as indicated in the item Twenty-Five Lecturers Missing At ITS (February 7), reporting what was said by the opposition spokesman on education.
The second semester for the academic year 2011-2012 has not started yet and will commence on Monday. It is common practice for the institute to engage lecturers on contract basis before the start of the semester.
This procedure is in line with public procurement regulations. Interested lecturers are sitting for interviews prior to the start of the second semester.
In addition, the institute would like to clarify that there are no students who had obtained an advanced certification in certain subjects and who are studying in the same class with students who do not even have the SEC certificate in the same subjects.
