Airline’s fair pricing policy
Can Emirates airline’s representatives in Malta please explain the following?
The “normal” price for an economy two-week return flight from Rome to Dubai for two persons in March is €1,068.68. Same flight, same dates, same time scale from Malta is €1,238.96.
But it gets worse!
The “normal” price for an economy three-week return flight from Rome to Cape Town for two persons in June is €1,298.06. Same flight, same dates, same time scale from Malta is a whopping €2,032.34 – nearly a 60 per cent increase in cost.
And Australia, a favourite Malese location, is the same. A three-week economy return for two people to Sydney from Rome in April is €1,894.32 whereas from Malta the same dates, time scale and flight is €2,660.60! Nearly €800 more expensive!
Maybe the response from Emirates as to why they are charging people living in Malta such premium prices is simply “because we can!”
Hopefully, people will take note and ignore Emirates from Malta, especially on long haul.

Paul i agree with with you ... It will be much cheaper to book a Hotel Room with such companies like , Laterrooms, Travelrepublic,Booking.com and on the beach holidays ect ect then to book direct with hotel.
But this not only when booking a hotel in Malta only, but for worldwide hotels. I book all my hotel my holidays abroad and also hotels for my local weekend breaks with such companies and by this i have always saved a lot of money.

Rip off Malta also applies to hotels. A room at a 3* hotel in Sliema booked with the hotel. €30 per person per night. Booked with Laterooms.com €20. Surely it should be cheaper booking direct and cutting out the agency.

Interesting read...thanks for that! The same goes for cruises. Someone I know flew to Spain to catch a cruise that calls at Malta, he paid the flights to/from Spain to catch the cruise and it still cost him about 400 euros less per passenger than what he would have paid if he joined the cruise in Malta.

It's not just flights, it's everything. Check out the cost of a mobile phone in UK then compare it to Malta. They often call UK 'Rip-off Britain', but in reality, it's rip-off Malta.
