Romanian woman acquitted of drug importation

A Romanian woman was this morning unanimously acquitted of drug importation.

Adela Mariana Creta, 24, stood trial for drug importation. She kept insisting on Wednesday that she had no idea that her bag contained a kilo of heroin. All nine-members of the jury voted for her acquittal.

Ms Creta arrived by air from Brussels in August 2009 carrying a bag, which, she claimed, was given to her by her boyfriend.

According to the bill of indictment, the drugs were worth about €41,000.

Good evening Adele...I wish you the best of luck for your future, may you have a peaceful and successful life. And please don't worry about some people who always think they know-it-all, just hold your head up high, be yourself and never look back.

people are so quick to judge. there is a difference between a bad sentence to a guilty one than to somone proven innocent! why has everyone have to be guilty???

Perhaps you would care to explain why a day trip to Malta required a suitcase? Everyone knows what an empty suitcase feels like from the point of view of weight. If someone handed me a suitcase with over two pounds of extra weight in it I would know right away. Also given the present terrorist climate around the world I wouldn't be stupid enough to accept a suitcase from someone else to put on board a plane. Importing a kilo of drugs is bad enough but it could just as well have been a bomb.

If only you followed the case you would have read that the drugs were hidden in a false bottom so basically your argument holds no water.

I think that for once the courts came up with the right verdict... I just hope the police have enough information to chase the so called boyfriend.

@Ramon. Yeah it's a scary problem. Obviously the lady in question has never seen it.

@Franco Attard Trevisan. I have followed the case, have you? Of course the drugs were hidden in a false case bottom. Where would you expect them to be, on top of her clothing? That aside you are missing the main point which is the fact that she wasn't coming to Malta on holiday she was on a day trip. Normal people don't take a suitcase with them on a day trip!
