The Syrian community is urging the Maltese to join them in a peaceful protest against the Russian and Chinese governments, whom they are holding responsible for the death of their families back home.

The two countries have vetoed a UN resolution condemning Syria for its deadly crackdown on protests.

Syrians in Malta will today meet outside the Chinese Embassy in St Julians at about 2.30 p.m., and at 2 p.m. on Sunday out-side the Russian Embassy in Kappara.

The General Workers’ Union Maltese-Arab community expressed its support and said it would be joining the Syrian community protesting outside the embassies.
