Joseph Fenech, also known as Żeppi l-Ħafi, was yesterday acquitted of damaging a car and slightly injuring a man during a fight in 2010.
Mr Fenech, 56, from Qawra and his son-in-law, Norbert Falzon, 29, from Naxxar had pleaded not guilty to damaging the car and slightly injuring Paul Spiteri on October 14, 2010.
It emerged that Mr Spiteri had offended Mr Falzon by swearing at him and mentioning his father, at which point Mr Falzon slapped him. Mr Fenech was implicated at no stage during the argument.
Magistrate Anthony Vella acquitted Mr Fenech due to the complainant lacking credibility.
Mr Falzon was given a conditional discharge for one week after it resulted that he had slapped Mr Spiteri in the face.
Lawyers Franco Debono and Jean Carl Farrugia appeared for Mr Fenech and Mr Falzon.
