James A. Tyrrell of Northern Ireland gives quite a long list of misbehaviours by the present government.

It is very odd to pontificate about Maltese improprieties when one is living in Northern Ireland. It did not cross the correspondent’s mind that if he wrote this letter in the halycon socialist days and came to Malta he would be thrown in jail while waiting for a plane to take him back to his country.

That was the time when we had a law called Foreign Interference Act that prohibited his type of sheninigans. That law, of course, has since been repealed. So, now, Mr Tyrrell can rest assured that he will always be welcome here.

He found our legal and prison systems particularly abhorrent. It is relevant to remind him that no prison inmates died here of hunger strike unlike what happened on his patch where 10 young men died of hunger.
