Ambrosini hits out at Chiellini

Milan captain Massimo Ambrosini has hit out at Juventus centre-back Giorgio Chiellini for trying to get a fellow professional into trouble.

Following Wednesday night’s Italian Cup semi-final, first leg, won 2-1 by Juve, there was an altercation between Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Juve goalkeeper Marco Storari – after which Chiellini accused Ibrahimovic of having struck his team-mate.

That comes at an inopportune moment for the big Swede, who is due to start a three-match league ban this weekend for having slapped Napoli’s Salvatore Aronica on Sunday.

“He should avoid taking such a stance because it’s not nice and it’s out of place,” Ambrosini told Sky.

“I’m disappointed because we’re trying to ease the tension and I don’t think it’s nice to go into a press conference and invoke video evidence.

“If someone makes a mistake they deserve to be punished but you don’t go and act as a spy to try to force someone’s guilt.”

The video evidence was far from conclusive, showing little more than some pushing and shoving between Storari and Ibrahimovic, who at one point appears to lift his arm but only to around chest height.

The incident, however, cannot help Milan’s appeal against the Swede’s three-match ban, which they were hoping to get reduced.
