The chinese will sell their soul for some little youtube glory! The chinese are fastly becoming the eccentric civilization. I think they give a different interpretation to life values. We've seen it in the toddler accident episode recently, now this plus thousands of others that remain unheard of. Perhaps its the fact that there are so many of them that human life looses out a little .

Thinking of it however, it is the media that fuels weird things like this, without the media there will be little scope for anyone to go into such extremes - as long they're a little sane in the mind of course!

One cannot generalise, indeed one mustn't. But was there not a case fairly recently where a baby was knocked down by a car in China I believe, people walked by doing nothing, and then the child was hit again by a second car? If I am right, I am sure people will remember this incident.

Malcolm Seychell may have a point in saying that this ritual would build up the child's immune system. But there is always a downside to anything extreme. I would rather my child had a deficient immune system than die of pneumonia because of my self-serving standards. As in, I a man and I want my son to be his father's son. Including his stupidity.


Boys don't cry, goes the saying. Oh yes they do! Why else would they have tear ducts?

this where it is going wrong.

if you slap a child on the butt to correct him after disobeying,,,,, it is abuse.

but when parents leave their children or teens at the mercy of other people,,,, this is fine.

or when parents abuse their children in the way shown on the video to get viewings on u tube,,,, no problem.

to be frank,,,, i am also disgusted at soem italian joke program where you see children and animals treated the same. or animals licking children. or pushing them over violently, just for the laugh.

the last one i saw was a child eating from a dog's plate and the parents are laughing.

What's wrong with teaching a boy how to survive harsh conditions? The body doesn't get stronger by lying on the couch with a warm cup of tea. In fact, it should become common practice worldwide to do things like this in severe weather conditions.

Anthony Cassar, you are right. I had it all composed in my mind and rushed it off. Hence this and a number of other mistake. What I had intended to say was that the child seemed to be smiling towards the very end of the clip. Smiles of relief that the ordeal was over? Smiling at his parents for their praise. Again, apologies.

I added that last sentence because it happens to be true. But also because I feel that Turks and their land are still in the Black Book of many Maltese, four hundred years since the Great Siege. I would like to try and redress that somehow but tradition is strong in Malta. But fascinating nevertheless.

This is insane! putting your child in the snow, and asking him to lay down on it naked!! What does discipline has to do with this!!

absolutely criminal behavior, they will do anything these people, few weeks ago remember they skilled a little poodle just because it was walking on the runway!!!! and as mr xuereb said about the turkish father hitting the son, its a really child abuse case!!!!!!

These are isolated cases but they happen (I notice that in this video clip, the child seems to be smiling. Maybe his parents where telling him how brave he was, having been through the ordeal and lived to smile loving at his parents.
I was in a Turkish village visiting friends not so long ago. At the usual cafe where the men congregate to be men, ie drinking endless teas, backgammon boards much in evidence, and chatter as if wanting to outdo the Merry Wives of Windsor. One man was showing off his pride and joy, a boy barely eighteen months old. Written all over him as if he was saying, I am a man and I have produced a boy. He will grow up in my image. He proceeded to slap the child quite hard on the face. It was interesting that the merely looked blank and bewildered but not crying. He had got used to the ritual. The father then stopped and hugged the boy who hugged him back with a smile on his face. Daddy does love me after all, he seemed to be thinking. Then the ritual started again and I was nott surprised that the tiny tot looked confused if not particularly frightened. The die had been cast. That is indoctrination for you! I looked on with barely-concealed horror (I knew that child was too young to misbehave and therefore punished. I felt I should not dare intervene so I asked my friend what was going on. Just toughening up his son, he replied, and took another sip of his tea.

This was strange because if anything, the Turks are more fond of their children than the Maltese, if that is possible.

I don't expect anything better from China. That is what happen's when a country has no basic human or religious morals.. but just sadist and communist political beliefs. We are also talking about the one of two countires who clearly approves mass killing in Syria... enough said there.
