Steve Camilleri’s scoring vein knows no respite. The Neptunes and Malta player, engaged by RN Bogliasco for the fourth consecutive year, was again much in evidence a few days ago when hitting a nap-hand for his Italian club.
This five-goal bonanza was, however, futile as the team from Genova succumbed to a 13-12 defeat at the hands of city neighbours RN Camogli to slide into eighth position in the table.
Camilleri is currently in third position in the scorers’ chart with 40 goals and leading his team’s rankings, 10 goals ahead of Germany’s Heiko Nossek.
During Tuesday’s news con-ference on the 2012 Winter League, ASA president Joe Caruana Curran had words of praise for Camilleri whose high ranking in the 2011 Sportivi Nazzjonali must have further boosted the popularity of waterpolo in our country.
