Tristan B jailed again
Former singer Emanuel Balzan, known as Tristan B, was jailed for another three years this morning for defrauding a businessman.
The businessman cannot be named by court order.
Last month, Mr Balzan, 32, of Rabat, in prison serving a nine-month term following another fraud conviction, was jailed another three-and-a-half years after he admitted to defrauding another businessman.

Fraudsters are usually known for their charming ways, their sweet-talk. This, and his obvious narcissistic view of himself would have made me run a mile. Maybe some people just love to be taken in by smoothies. And they would be particularly vulnerable if they smelt a quick profit at the end of the smooth-talk.
With this one, charm is in his blood. It is a survival tactic that runs on luck and other people's gullibility. Until, that is, it starts running on empty. That is when the Ferrari-that-could-have-been has to be locked up in the garage for a while at least. Maybe he can talk his way into a more comfortable situation while he is in prison. Happens!

Obviously this guy does not want to change and is intent on becoming a career criminal . I would say Malta is the place for career criminals because of the daft 'slap on the wrist' sentences given by the courts.

What is so funny about this Mr. Galea?
Nothing is funny for the people who were defrauded and am sure he is not enjoying his time in jail, even though it is deserved.
such comments show ignorance

I have to agree with Maria Vella since I find none of this amusing. Perhaps Mr. Galea can explain his comment.

Manwel Debattista: the "LOL" is the internet equivalent of a grunting noise, done when one is unable to articulate one's thoughts.

Francis, I am sure you know that in everyday communication jargon LOL stands for Laughing Out Loud or Let's (o)All Laugh which I hope you agree with me is a sentiment uncalled for in this matter.
In any case it is not you who needed to explain but the writer i.e. Mr. Galea. Only he knows what he meant to say.
Unfortunately the only comment from Mr. Galea was an insulting "get a life" addressed to another writer. This makes me more inclined to think that his LOL was indeed intended to ridicule and make fun of a serious situation.
