The Union of European Football Associations, UEFA, yesterday filed a judicial protest against online gaming company Pentasia Malta, claiming that it was illegally using the name Champions League. The football federation said the company was promoting its services under the name Pentasia Champions League, which, it insisted, was its international trademark.

The fact that the company was registered under that name had violated its rights, UEFA argued.

It also called on Pentasia to withdraw products and literature bearing the words Champions League. Lawyer Melvyn Mifsud signed the protest.
