Objection never answered
Back in May 2011, through the post, I received a citation (Ref. 204-06480-8) for a contravention I never committed.
I immediately wrote a letter of objection to the Petitions Board. This was on May 18. In a letter dated May 27 (Ref. RR 7418/11), I received an acknowledgment to my letter. However, up till the end of 2011 no answer to my objection was received. Hence, on January 2, 2012, I sent a letter to remind the board that no communication had been received in relation to my objection. Regettfully, a month later, not even an acknowledgment to my reminder reached me.
My problem is that in a couple of weeks’ time I have to renew my car licence. While I still declare myself innocent in this disgraceful matter, I don’t want to think that all this silence is premeditated so that I am “forced” to pay this contravention in order to get my licence renewed. If this is the case, all I can say is shame.

"Citation" and "ċitazzjoni" may sound simlar, but do not mean the same thing.
"Ċitazzjoni" would be "summons" in English.

This contravention reminds me of a citation I received two years ago in the same locality of Fgura. The registration number of the contravening vehicle were Italian and they had my name and address.I was truly amazed and baffled how this mix-up could happen. I simply disregarded the notice to appear before the tribunal and never paid the non-existent contravention. I have since had no trouble renewing my road licences.

Mr. Scicluna, you do not need to worry. I have checked for you through website www.les.gov.mt where it clearly shows that your petition has been accepted and that you owe nothing to the Government. So you can rest assured that you will be able to renew your licence.

Prosit Frank; you are a gentleman and a scolar.........and well versed in gov.mt.
At least you have put his mind at rest, instead of moaning like some others.
Well done!!

Dear Anthony
the same happened to me and I had to pay a contravension twice since I carry a double surname. This contravension was sent to me on my maiden name and on my married name. I sent my objection to the Petition Board and did not even receive an acknowledgment. I had to pay 112 Euros before I paid my licence since it was overdue!!!! So again you are not alone.

So long as your objections is still pending before the Petition Board your citation will not have any effect. I believe something to that effect is written on the acknowledgment .

Dear Anthony,
You may not be aware but ,sad to say, this non-response from the Petitions Board effecting you is not an isolated case from many people including myself have been the recipient of such unaccountability and indeed lack of basic courtesy. It may be of little solace to know that you are YANA is this,i.e. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
