The number of passengers passing through Malta International Airport fell by 2.2 per cent in January compared to the same month last year, according to the latest statistics.

The figure reached 165,969 while aircraft movements fell by 10 per cent.

The average seat load factor reached 65.2 per cent, an increase of 5.1 percentage points, as the seat capacity for the month reached 254,714, a drop of 9.8 per cent.

Cargo and mail were also lower, by 6.5 per cent.

Traffic from the Italian and French markets contracted while substantial growth was seen in the German and United Arab Emirates markets.
