‘Vandals’ scratch mayor’s car
The Attard local council yesterday condemned the “vandal attack” on the car of Mayor Stefan Cordina who on Saturday found three scratches on the left side of the vehicle.
“This abusive action shows lack of respect towards the mayor and the local council,” the council said in a statement.

That could be a child on a bike accidentally scraping against the car when riding on the pavement.
Unfortunately, accidents like this happen sometimes for the simple reason that young children riding stabilised bikes are very erratic and unskilled, as one can expect.

tough luck, it happens to everyone... why not do a police report?

Possible it was scratched just because it happened to be there and not because it is the mayor's car ... get a grip just because you're the mayor doesn't mean you are immune to the vandalism occurring daily on our roads!!

Other vehicles are also being "attacked" (daily) in Attard - most particularly in Triq il-Pitkali .
Actually, vehicles are having their suspension and steering mechanism "hammered" by the sub-standard "roads" there. Shouldn't this fact be in the news too ?

I had quite a few beautiful classic cars ...I loved them ...polished them.....and so on.
One fine morning I was awakened by my neighbour to find my classic car splashed over with a good 2 litre tin of paint ..the red lead boat paint ...it seeped through everywhere down to the inside of the doors...I loved that car. i had to bring it down to bare metal and rebuild the whole paintwork
Another episode when some microbial IQ bastard poured transparent brake fluid on the roof of another car of mine which automatically stripped the paint off.
This is apart from all the scratches , and other forms of vandalism
This is the way cowards work. they attack what you like most....They are weak, they have an inferiority complex, they are insecure of themselves, they are unable to win arguments except with violence.
They will all pay for thier deeds ....hadd wara hadd TASAL ta kulhadd. and i know , this saying is VERY true.
So beware ...you cowards out there...what ever evil you do to others will be returned 10 fold unto you sooner or later. Take my word for it .

SO WHAT join the club, being a Local Mayor will not and should not get you more respect.

The local council where I live didn't even bother to comment when vandals scratched and threw stones, not at a single car but the whole road. Why should a Mayor be treated differently?

Our parked car was scratched by falling stones, soils and other debrise when a contractor at B'Kara, behind Falzon Service station, was using his bulldozer from a demolished house. Very probably not even a licence is issued to close down the street because no warden seems to be allocated. It seems also that various car spaces were removed by the same contarctor. The authorites seems to shift the problem aside. But this is Malta....:(((
We, the general public, are just considered as noisance to the wealthy and powerful...:((

I sympathise with Stefan Cordina as he is a friend of mine. However, many cars are being scratched on a frequent basis in many parts of Malta and none reported. My car was scratched many times mostly when parked in Sliema.

Didn't see any reports in the paper when my car was scratched nor the many other thousands of car owners to whom similar cases of mindless vandalism happens every day.Wonder why we were never afforded "respect"-or does this only apply to the good and the great and did the Mayor's vehicle have neon lights on it signifying and identifying it as being the Mayor's car?

Such action is deplorable and can never be condoned .However,on the issue stated by the Local Council of" lack of respect being shown" is this not a case of the chickens coming home to roost and the pot calling the kettle black? As when is respect shown by any local council towards the very people they are in place to serve and protect?

Other people's cars get scratched daily but are not billed as headline news. They may not be majors but are manual workers, housewives, professionals, students etcetc.
So, what is the big deal?

“This abusive action shows lack of respect towards the mayor and the local council,” the council said in a statement.
Mr. Mayor and local council members should not take this despicable act personally. Many cars are scratched and other properties are vandalized on a daily basis. It happens here in Malta and all over the world. As far as cars are concerned, the most targeted by vandals are nice looking shiny cars, especially those of premium brands... probably motivated by jealousy and boredom.
If the mayor and council members insist on making this incident all about them rather than identifying it as a random act of vandalism, then it suggests that they may be carrying a guilty conscience or have done something (or failed to do something) that has irritated or frustrated the residents of Attard.

Whoever resorts to such cowardly acts of vandalism is surely below in the classification of evolution of humans dating back more than 200000 years.
I would put this species at the early 'Ardi' Ardipitheus Ramidus humanoid which lived between 4 and 5 million years ago . The earliest form of human ..of which only 35 fossil remains have been found.
Just imagine having these creatures around you !!!! Are they really an extinct species?
