PN leadership nominations open

Nominations for the PN leadership contest opened today and remain open up to February 15.

The contest is being held at the request of Lawrence Gonzi after MP Franco Debono demanded that the prime minister or those who he said were responsible for the current political crisis, should shoulder their responsibilities.

Dr Gonzi has said he will be a candidate. However he is unlikely to be contested.

The secret ballot will be held on February 25. The result will be announced on the same day and if no second round is needed, the party leader will address the party council on February 26. Should a second round be needed, it will be held on March 3, with the speech on March 4.

The winner has to achieve two-thirds of the votes in order to be declared elected in the first round, after which a simple majority would be sufficient.

The electoral commission will be chaired by former minister Michael Refalo, assisted by MEP David Casa, Dr. Anne Fenech (AZAD); Sonia Vancell (President MNPN) and Boris Xerri (PN treasurer).

For your kindest information, even if Dr Gonzi does not resign or does not have any candidates to contest his leadership. He did much more than that. He puts himself to scrutiny by a private vote from the delegates which means that one can vote against him or even cancel the vote too!!

Raymond this is a leadership vote for a position that is not vacant or to put it another way a waste of time and money, something Gonzipn seem to have perfected!

Boloh???? taf kif ikunu il-boloh? ha nispjegalek kif nifimha jien.

Boloh huma dawk in -nies li leader taghhom ( jekk tista isejahlu leader) jbellalhom il-holm li f'Malta kollox perfett u jmorru jcapcpulu.

Boloh huma dawk in-nies li avolja meta jifthu kont tad dawl jiehdu qata, xorta jghidu viva Gonzipn.

Boloh huma nies bhalek li jghajru lil hadtiehor boloh Sur Scerri.

U nehhijha min mohhok li jekk Gonzipn ma jgibx two thirds tal voti ha jirizenja, ghax Gonzipn ghandu sponsor tajjeb tas super glue li qed juzah kuljum mas siggu tal poter.

Iva mela ahna BOLOH!!!

What a contest! A one horse race for a vacancy which is not even vacant! If Gonzi wants a real contest he should call an early election, but because he needs to cut some more ribbons (no, not in the national interest) he is clinging to power at all costs. Let the fools implode in themselves.

Ma nahsibx li dawk li stennew elezzjon bikrija kienu boloh. Nahseb li ma ikkalkulax l-ghatx kbir ghall-poter li ghandu Gonzi li, ghal kost ta' kollox, minghalih qed jghaddi lil-pajjizna biz-zmien biex jipprova jerbah ftit izjed zmien fil-poter. Gonzi b'din il-mossa ikkonferma li huwa iggranfat ms-siggu tal-poter.

A list of contenders for the PM's job could be in this order..
1. Austing Gatt
2. Tonio Fenech
3. Franco debono
4. Jeffrey Pollicini Orlando
5. Dr Cassar
4. Ms Christina
then everybody else....Just a bit of humour. Dr Gonzi is just playing the political game.

Just as many cops who were needed while the MLP voted for Joseph and booted George Abela out!

Victor Laiviera

Feb 6th, 20:34

I'm glad you mentioned that Mr "Black".

Remember how many PN apologists loudly argued that the Leader should not be elected by the delegates only but by all party members?

How is the PN going to run the election? Will all party members have a vote?

Anthony Castillo

Zgur mhux bhal meta sar Alfred Sant, staqsu lil Lino Spiteri u bhal ta JM staqsu lil Micheal Falzon u lil Evarist Bartolo.

Ghalmenu mhux imbabsa bhal dawk li saru f'partit ohra!!

The 'sitcom' is not for MLP supporters' consumption.

If you don't like it, don't watch it.

Victor Laiviera

That was not the way that PN apologists argued when the LP was electing a new Leader. They said that, as the person chosen could be PM one day, they had a right to express an opinion.

The same applies today, I think, don't you?
