The limits of political decency (3)
The Prime Minister should have gone for a general election and not an election to confirm his leadership on February 25.
That way he would know whether the whole country wanted him as Prime Minister.

Dr Gonzi is no fool. He is betting on a sure thing and he already knows what the outcome will be. But on the other hand, he thought he had a sure bet when he presented the divorce initiative. Oooooooops that one backfired. But this time he is not going to trust the people he governs to decide, he is counting on his beloved and very dedicated party associates, or else? Again, playing politics at the people's expense. I think the PM should start with a fresh deck of cards because the old deck is starting to fade.

To call an election one must first resign, no?

Not really. One will resign after the result is known, until then the elected leader remains, in these circumstances. One resigns if one is sick or commits a grave blunder which is not the case.

The Pm at the moment prefers to run a race against himself only. That way he is sure to win - just like Cauceseu of Romania. F'hix waqa il-PN.

Ms. Borg - there was and is no need for an election before its due date. The whole country had already voted him as Prime Minister at the last elections so please just have some more patience and wait 14 months and then all the country will decide which is the best team to run the country.
