Search for Calì painting
I would like to thank The Times for helping promote our cultural heritage through the section where it reports what had been carried by The Malta Herald (100 years ago). It is vital for students and also for Heritage Malta personnel to keep records of these press cuttings.
In fact, I would like to know, after reading about artist Giuseppe Calì’s painting The Good Shepherd (December 30), which was at Bighi Hospital, Kalkara, the whereabouts of this painting today. I do not think it is at Kalkara’s St Joseph church.
Such a painting must be again placed at the Heritage Malta restoration centre.

What evidence does Wenzu Vella have for his accusation? Or is it just anti-British sour grapes?

It is a very good question perhaps the British government or some high ranking naval officer would have the answer for this. Many of Malta’s treasures found there way in British collections via a suitcase.
