Two Libyans were this afternoon charged with stealing from two cars in St Paul's Bay.

One, Hesham S. Kh Gharzeddin, 33, a painter who lives in St Paul's Bay pleaded guilty while the other, Mohammed Hamza Zfiadad, 33, a builder with no fixed address, pleaded not guilty.

The two men were charged with stealing items with a value of between €800 and €1,300 from a white Hyundai and a blue Toyota that were parked in Triq il-Pont Ruman, St Paul's Bay, and damaging one of the cars.

Mr Gharzeddin on his own was also charged with threatening a police officer and Mr Zfiadad on his own with carrying a weapon without a licence.

The police said Mr Zfiadad was an illegal immigrant.

The case was deferred for judgement. The two men will be judged separately.
