Archbishop Paul Cremona this morning expressed his hope in society in view of European Parliament discussions on embryonic stem cell research and euthanasia saying “maybe our society, after distancing so much from that value of life, can choose it again as the biggest value of man to defend and promote.
In an homily during Mass at St John’s CoCathedral to celebrate World Life Day, Mgr Cremona said it was a pity that in today’s world, people spoke of pregnancy and birth like they were just a number, “diminishing the happiness that is linked to the start of new life” and that was best expressed in the book of Genesis.
Mgr Cremona also spoke on the value of the end of life, describing these moments as precious “because even then one can do good as did Jesus Christ when he suffered on the cross”.
During the mass, couples expecting a baby, representing the child in the womb, entered into a conversation with the Archbishop who spoke in the name of God.
The mass was followed by a manifestation in favour of life in the CoCathedral’s Oratory.
The event, organised by the Malta Unborn Child Movement, was also addressed by Parliamentary Assistant Charlo Bonnici.
