The outgoing president ofthe Gozo Business Chamber,Joe Grech, recently announced that the chamber would be having a full-time chief executive officer, employed by the Gozo Ministry, following an agreement with the Finance Ministry.
Speaking at the chamber’s AGM at the Hotel Xlendi last Sunday, Mr Grech said the move was an added bonus for the chamber. He said the workload had increased due to the increase in the number of members and the chamber’s involvement in local and overseas activities.

A CEO no less, and EMPLOYED by the Ministry for Gozo. Does that mean he/she will cost the taxpayer money. How long until there is a secretary required, employed at taxpayers expense, or other "staff".
I am all in favour of businesses forming organisations to further their trade prospects, this would in turn hopefully offer more employment for Gozo. I am not however in favour of these same businesses subsiding their "club" using tax money. this in my view is misappropriation and the Minister should explain this decision publicly.
