The search for the world’s most creative young entrepreneur has begun. As nominations for the Junior Chamber International Malta 2012 first Creative Young Entrepreneur Award open, members and non-members of JCI Malta are hoping to prove that Malta’s young entrepreneurs are among the world’s most creative.

The competition, sponsored by HSBC and KPMG, is open to Maltese residents aged 18 to 40.

JCI Malta is part of a worldwide community of young, active citizens who are dedicated to creating the positive change they wish to see in themselves and the world.

There are nearly 200,000 members in 115 countries across the globe. JCI launched the Creative Young Entrepreneur Award Competition in 2006 in partnership with the Flanders District of Creativity, an initiative of the Belgian government.

“Our competition is the first step on the road to someone from Malta becoming the 2012 Creative Young Entrepreneur Award winner. We have outstanding candidates for this award,” JCI Malta president Charlotte Gregory said.

“We hope creative and talented young business owners and entrepreneurs come forward to be recognised through the competition, with the potential of moving on to the international level competition.”

JCI deputy president Jonathan Borg said the entry process involved the simple completion of a nomination form. From these entries, a panel of experts drawn from within the local economic and entrepreneurial community will select three semi-finalists to move forward into the 2012 JCI Creative Young Entrepreneur Award Competition final, which will be held in April.

The successful candidate will then compete internationally for the JCI Creative Young Entrepreneur Award.

Three international finalists will be chosen for the award. The finalists will receive a free round-trip airline ticket to attend the JCI World Congress, which will be held in November in Taipei.

The prize package also includes a free hotel stay at the congress headquarters hotel, and one free JCI World Congress registration. One finalist will be selected by a panel of international judges as the 2012 JCI Creative Young Entrepreneur.
