Poets association founder and president steps down

The president and founding member of the Maltese Poets Association has stepped down due to health problems.

Speaking at the association’s triennial general meeting , Alfred Massa expressed pride in being behind the setting up of the association and seeing its incipience in 1975.

He will be replaced as president by Charles Magro.

Mr Massa highlighted the glorious moments of the association through the years and its sterling work in the promotion of poetry.

He paid tribute to all those who have poetry in their hearts and encouraged all to cherish this noble and beautiful art.

The new committee elected for the next three years comprises Salv Sammut, secretary, Doris Chircop, (re-confirmed) treasurer, Joseph Axiaq, Patrick Sammut, Charles Mifsud and Omar Seguna.
