Max Ciantar found in possession of heroin

Maximilian Ciantar, the driver who served a jail term for running over twin girls in Attard, was this evening found in possession of heroin at Mater Dei Hospital.

Mr Ciantar, 21, of Marsa, was caught by members of the Drugs Squad in Disneyland, where he was visiting his baby. He has been out of prison for a few days.

On January 17, Mr Ciantar was jailed for a month and fined €100 after a Magistrate found him guilty of having threatened journalists who were reporting a court case late last year.

He has also served a three month jail term after having been found driving in breach of a court order issued after the incident involving the twins.

For help to be effective it must be wanted. I feel sure that this man does not wish to change his lifestyle and why should he? He plays the legal system to his advantage on every occasion and has absolutely no respect for society in general and authority in particular. He is however, likely to self destruct at some point.

@ Mr Xuereb
What this man needs is somebody to teach him a lesson in respecting other people and sooner or later he is going to meet that someone who will do just that. He is so arrogant that he is challenging the system and he knows that in Malta he can get away with that. He knows that the courts are incompetent more than he is and he thrives on that notion.Sooner or later this man will meet his match, I hope it won't be too late. He has no respect for the law and or his parents. I hope that maybe his baby will have some influence for the better.

Medieval practices were replaced by democratic laws and fair justice. The laws courts in Malta are not doing their job properly hence the 'lynching'. It is a way of people showing their disapproval towards a cancer-stricken system.

Sooner or later this guy will meet his match, either on the outside or inside a prison. A bully of this kind thinks he is invincible and nothing or nobody can touch him. May I remind this thug that there is a little baby depending on him and if he keeps his way of life, then shame on him. Does he even think of how much grief he is causing his family, mostly his parents? Mr Ciantar, " GROW UP." Remember there is a little baby depending on you, so if not for you, do it for the baby..

Well said Mr. Camilleri allow me to add were are the drug barons???????????????????????????
If society can trace this man's footstep and it is appropriate and deserve credit, surely it can do the same with the drug providers!

Mr Xuereb you must be one of those church fanatics. How do you explain this guy's behaviour to his parents? How do you excuse the fact that this man almost killed two innocent young girls while walking in a Zebra crossing, and to to top it of he was driving without a license or without insurance? This man is so arrogant he is a manace to society and church can do very little for him. Get a life Mr Xuereb.

It's not society that is not assisting him, it's the authorities.
If it were for society (=all of us as reflected in the comments below), he should have been given a harsher punishment fitting the crime, which should have served as an example for road bullies.

Correction and rehabilitation, yes of course, but first the punitive measures, which should mercilessly serve as a deterrent. Society will hold the authorities responsible if this person hurts any other third party in due course.

Sending him back to prison will certainly solve a lot. It will protect society, that's you and me, from his crimes.

The man is incorrigible and no institution will succeed in rehabilitating him.

Society demands that this waste of space is put in prison before he ends up hurting or killing anybody else. He should be given an indefinite sentence and ONLY released when and if he proves that he has changed his ways. If it takes 5 years, 20 years or 30 years so be it.

Wait just a second, as I can't understand the reasoning behind your comments. This criminal first run over two little girls without even bothering to stop to see what happened, he was caught driving without license soon after the first incident, threatened three journalist while doing their honest jobs, then caught in possession of heroin and you are suggesting that the state must help him. As an honest tax payer I don't want that the money that I pay to the state goes out to help these so called individuals.
He is a criminal, and must be treated as a criminal, straight and plain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The real issue is this guy is totally selfish and does not give a stuff about anyone except himself.
He will not reform if given a chance (he would spout something else of course) he will just plan his next criminal act.

It is not "what heroin does to a person", it is what a person does to himself when he takes heroin.

Since you cannot protect a person from himself, you must protect society from such a person.
