The Labour Party has a 3,700 vote difference in its favour with half the localities already having Labour-led councils, an exercise carried out by The Times shows.

Had the Sliema council not been dissolved, Labour would have had a 7,000 swing in its favour.

These figures contrast with Labour leader Joseph Muscat’s repeated declaration, including during a visit to Gżira yesterday, that the March 10 election will be a difficult one for his party.

Figures of first count votes each party received in the last round of elections in the localities going to the polls next month show the Nationalist Party got 57,908 votes while Labour candidates won 61,619.

In the last round, in 2007 or 2008, Labour elected 116 councillors and the PN 110. Alternattiva Demokratika received 2,800 first count votes and elected two candidates.

Vittoriosa, Senglea, Qormi, Żebbuġ, Birżebbuġa, Dingli, Gżira, Ħamrun, Kirkop, Luqa, Marsa, Marsaxlokk, Mosta, Paola, Santa Lucija, Xagħra and Żurrieq all councils with a Labour majority.

In Sliema, Labour candidates received 2,071 first count votes and PN candidates won 5,445.

AD’s chairman, Michael Briguglio, garnered 457 first count votes.

These predictions may all be part of the PN game so that disgruntled PN sympathizers will flock to deposit their vote, and then they can call a victory and give a boost to their supporters.

Dr Joseph Muscat may be seen as pathetic only by people who think that they are living in Utopia. The PL is certainly the underdog in every election as certain media and bloggers will join forces to 'shoot down', sometimes subtly, every PL proposal. Although I believe that many readers and viewers can read between the lines and are able to choose constructive criticism from the destructive ones.

Can you please indicate some of the disasters caused by the Mosta Council?

One disaster that the Mosta Council definitely has NOT caused is the squandering of public funds.

I personally wish to thank the Mayor Dr Paul Chetcuti Caruana and many of the PL and PN councillors for their hard work towards the good of Mosta and the Mostin.

Carmel Xuereb don't make blank meaningless comments. Can you prove what you are stating? Don't just follow your leader like when he said that not one single stone had been built on the new oncology hospital, when at the time he spoke it was aready nearly complete in shell form.

The problem with us here in Malta is this mentality, which the labour, for its own ends, never tried to change in tits supporters.

So............What's your point brother?

Without discounting the importance of the achievements one may obtain at school, one must measure success by what he ultimately achieve in life. And that does not necessarly mean to include politics and how much money you have stached in your bank account, that does not come into the equation here.

Ultimately my friend, our success will be measured by whether we have made the appropiate choices In life which has contributed for the well-being of peace towards thy brethern and for the common good of thy neighbour. Be they white or black, Muslims or Jews or Christians, Labourites or Nationalists, rich or poor, sick or healthy. That and nothing but that, is what really counts.
