OBITUARY
CARABOTT DAMATO. On February 2, at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, MARY ROSE (Mariucca) of Birżebbuġa, aged 62, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her sad loss her beloved husband Dr Joe Carabott Damato, MD, her sons Mark and his wife Loredana and Paul and her beloved grandson Daniel, her mother Josephine Vella, her brothers Carmelo (Lino) and his wife Antoinette and John, her sister Anna and her husband Capt. Richard Gabriele, her nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 7.45 a.m. for St Peter’s parish church, Birżebbuġa, where Mass præsente cadavere for the repose of her soul will be celebrated at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. The family would like to thank all the staff at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital for their dedication and care. Donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. May the good Lord grant her eternal rest.
CURTIS. On January 31, at Mater Dei Hospital, EMMANUELA of San Ġwann, aged 72, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Peter, her only son Ian and his wife Nathalie and grandchildren Robert and Jessica, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8.30 a.m. for Our Lady of Lourdes parish church, San Ġwann, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9.15 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to charitable organisations will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
GALEA. On February 1, Maestro Frank, aged 66, ex-Assistant Head of School and ex-Bandmaster, passed away peacefully to meet the Risen Lord at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his sad loss his beloved wife Josephine née Camilleri, his loving sons André, Renzo and his wife Rina, his dearest grandson Ron, his sister Josephine, his brother Carmel, his mother-in-law Annie Camilleri, his in-laws Vinnie and David, Lino and Dorothy, Anna and Kevin, Dominic and their families, his cousins, relatives and other numerous friends, especially within the musical community. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2 p.m. for St Philip’s parish church, Żebbuġ, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 2.30 p.m. After Mass the funeral cortège will be accompanied by Banda San Pietru fil-Ktajjen, Birżebbuġa, Għaqda Soċjo-Mużikali Aniċi, Qormi, St Joseph Club and De Rohan Band, Żebbuġ, followed by interment in the family vault at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Żebbuġ. Donations to Hospice Malta, Balzan, will be greatly appreciated. Special thanks to all staff at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital (Palliative Care Unit) and Mater Dei Hospital (Urology 1) for their loving care and attention.

She leaves to mourn her loss her daughter Suzanna and her husband Steve Livingston, her son Jason and his partner Graziella Calleja, her grandchildren Jack, Ben and Cody, her beloved friend Marlene Gregory, and her husband Peter Jones, her sisters and brothers, Marthese Galea, Manuel Galea, Evelyn Ellul, Carmen Grech, Joe Galea, and all their spouses, nephews and nieces, and other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 7.30 a.m. for St Joseph’s parish church, Msida, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Sino-Maltese relations
The international secretariat of the Labour Party, with the support and collaboration of the Malta-China Friendship Society, will be holding a seminar at the party headquarters in Ħamrun today at 6.30 p.m. themed Forty Years of Friendship.
An exhibition of historic and unique photographs showing how the relations between China and Malta developed over the last 40 years will be opened on the same occasion.
Gala dinner
