Pleads not guilty to seriously injuring a man

A 61-year-old man from Senglea has pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring a man he had an argument with outside a police station in June 2010.

Alfred Azzopardi was arguing with Nazzareno Zarb, to whom he owed money, outside the Cospicua police station.

Major Carmel Bonello and Police Constable Andrea d'Amato said that the men had a verbal argument outside the police station.

Defence lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri are contesting the fact that any injuries were caused since according to officers the argument was purely verbal.
