A World War II heavy anti-aircraft gun, acquired by Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna through Bank of Valletta financial assistance, will soon go on display at Fort Rinella in Kalkara along with other examples of historic artillery that once defended the island. Designed by Vickers, the 3.7-inch weapon was Britain’s primary heavy anti-aircraft gun during the war. The gun is only one of the four remaining of its type still in existence and is the only mobile gun in Malta. It was brought over at Express Trailers’ expense. FWA plans to set up an open-air artillery section within Rinella Battery.
